The family of a Rotherham dad who was killed in a crash in Whiston last month have paid tribute to him as a 'loving family man' - who was about to become a grandad.

Peter Heard, 65, died when his motorbike was in collision with a car on Worry Goose Lane on Saturday 18 February.

In a statement, his family says he’ll be greatly missed:

“Peter was a loving family man, with two sons and a daughter. He was also expecting his first grandchild in May this year.

“He lived in Rotherham all his life, working locally and he recently retired from his job as a HGV driver.

“He loved his motorcycle and enjoyed working on it and riding it in his spare time, as well as enjoying quiet evenings out with his loved ones.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the collision. At around 12.50pm, it was reported a yellow Honda motorbike and a silver Vauxhall Zafira car collided near the junction with Greystones Road.

Peter – who was riding the motorbike - was taken to Northern General Hospital and died a short time later.
