We're hearing that work is going on around the clock in Sheffield to resettle refugees who've come from Afghanistan.

It's as we continue to look at how the crisis there is impacting people here - with the city council agreeing to rehouse 158 people this year.

Mohammad Kabuli's the Covid-19 Officer at Sheffield's Afghan Community Association and has been helping with the efforts.

The 28-year-old's been speaking exclusively to us from their base in Shirecliffe:

"You know they need help linking up with Government agencies that are there to help them, the healthcare system, how they can contact a social worker etc.

"It's not a system they will have ever come across before.

"Every little bit of help which can be given to these Afghan refugees must be provided.

"They've suffered enough I think, they deserve a chance to re-build their lives here.

"A lot of Afghan refugees when they come to see us here are very, very sad at what's gone off in their lives.

"Our job is to reassure them and help these people in their attempts to resettle."

The Home Office says they're ensuring that those still temporarily accommodated in hotels have access to healthcare, education, essential items, and employment opportunities or Universal Credit.
