Elderly woman suffers 'potentially life-changing injuries' in Sheffield crash

A 77 year old woman is in hospital with potentially life changing injuries after a crash in Sheffield.

It happened on Occupation Lane at about lunchtime involving two cars.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: "We were called at 12pm today (Wednesday 10 April) to reports of a road traffic collision on Occupation Lane, Sheffield.

"It is reported that a grey Citroen C3 Desire and an orange BMW X1 were involved in the collision.

"A 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene and a section of Occupation Lane is currently closed near the junction with Birley Spa Lane while officers complete their work."

In an update on Thursday (April 11) - a spokesperson from the force said: "It seems there has been a significant change since the incident happened in terms of the woman’s injuries, and these are now being treated as non-life-threatening or life-changing. The scene has now also been lifted."
