Mountain rescuers urge motorists not to abandon cars amid operations
Edale Mountain Rescue said their operation was slowed by parked cars
A mountain rescue team has urged motorists not to abandon their vehicles after their missions were slowed by parked cars.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Lady Booth Clough in the Peak District just before 11:55am on Saturday (January 11th).
The team were called to a man who had been walking with a group when he fell on the slippery terrain above the Edale Youth Hostel.
Thankfully for the victim, he had been travelling in a group, and had been kept warm and provided some pain relief for his injuries.
Mountain rescue teams reached the man shortly afterwards, eventually being airlifted off the mountain by a helicopter.
Forces from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were also put on standby in case of a potential wider-scale operation, but this was ultimately deemed unnecessary.
The force went on to add: "It is worth noting, rescuers access to this incident was slowed down by cars parked and abandoned in various locations.
"Please be mindful when enjoying these beautiful snowy conditions that the emergency services may need to get passed where you have left your car!"
