We're told everything is still 'running smoothly' in negotiations to get Doncaster Sheffield Airport back up & running.

The new Labour MP for Doncaster East & Isle of Axholme - Lee Pitcher - says he spoke with the city's Mayor last week:

"I had a meeting with Ros Jones at the end of last week.

"At that meeting, I just asked her about progress, and we're still on track to announce the new operator in October time.

"They're just finalising the due diligence.

"Once we've got the operator in place, then I guess the next stage is to work with them to understand how they will help to get it open and planes back flying as soon as possible.

"It's really tricky - there are so many variables, but the one thing I am committed to doing is to keep pushing to make sure DSA is back open as soon as possible."

DSA closed nearly 2 years ago - but Doncaster Council agreed a new 125-year lease with its site owners - the Peel Group - back in the spring.
