Drugs Warning Issued After Deaths in Barnsley
Police have issued a drugs warning to people in Barnsley after a man and woman died at properties in Worsbrough.
The 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead in the early hours of yesterday morning at a property on Genn Lane.
Reports were received in the early hours of this morning that a 33-year-old man had collapsed and was unconscious at a property on Mount Vernon Road. He was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Superintendent Shelley Hemsley said: “Whilst the cause of death has not yet been established, we do believe they were drugs related and we are conducting a number of enquiries in both cases to ascertain the circumstances.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two people who have sadly died. “Drugs can have severe consequences and damaging effects and we want to encourage people who may be affected either by the use of drugs, both legal and illegal substances, or have concerns for a loved one who may be affected, to please seek help and advice from health professionals.”
