Doncaster's Polish community: More volunteers needed to help sort donations for Ukrainian refugees
Three donation points have been set up in the town over the past few days
There's a call for volunteers in South Yorkshire to come and help sort out an 'overwhelming number' of donations for Ukrainian refugees this week.
Doncaster's Polish community are collecting goods at three separate locations in the town- which will be taken in a lorry to Poland on Friday-with many Ukrainians fleeing across the border to safety recently after Russia's military invasion last week.
Michal Ufniak-who lives in the Bentley area-has been helping with the efforts:
"People have been donating all sorts of things.
"One of the collection points in Doncaster isn't taking any more clothes because they've been overwhelmed with the number of items they've received.
"We need more essential items like nappies, toilet paper, bottled water and sanitary products.
"Things like baby formula, cans of food and soaps are also required still.
"Whoever wants to come down and volunteer is welcome to do so, as help is desperately needed to sort all the clothes out.
"The lorry is leaving for Poland on Friday, so there isn't a lot of time left."
Collection points have been set up in Doncaster at:
-The Catholic Church in Bentley
-St. Peter-In-Chains in Hyde Park
-Nuffield Health in Lakeside
