After twenty four months of extensive restoration, the Doncaster Corn Exchange has reopened as of Saturday 19th April, breathing new life into a treasured Grade II- listed landmark.

Originally built in 1870 as a concert hall and marketplace, the Corn Exchange has been transformed into a modern space for independent businesses- while preserving its rich Victorian heritage.

Funded by a £5 million government fund, the renovation has seen everything from roof repairs and stone work, to heritage restoration of its grand windows and doors. A new glass atrium now floods the interior with natural light, creating a bright and open-plan setting for visitors and vendors.

It now holds a licensed café, boutique stores, and beauty aesthetics. The space aims to become a hub for local entrepreneurs and shoppers looking to support independent, passion-led businesses.

Rachel Harban, General Manager of Doncaster Markets, says the reopening marks a significant moment for the city:

"This building is such an important part of Doncaster's history. People visiting have a tangible connection to the past- and now it's been modernised with a new purpose to support small businesses."

"It's fantastic not just for Doncaster Markets, but for the city as a whole too."

With the Corn Exchange linking closely to other key sites like the Wool Market and Doncaster Fish Market, the revitalisation is expected to help boost footfall into the city centre.

This is anticipated to make Doncaster a destination where people can shop local, enjoy food and drink, and experience the charm of a historical setting modernised for today's shoppers.
