Boy, 11, injured in Doncaster collision as police launch appeal for witnesses

The boy was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition

Police in South Yorkshire have launched an appeal for information and witnesses after an 11-year-old was injured in a crash in Doncaster.

Officers were first alerted to an incident taking place in the Woodlands area of the city at 2:47pm on Friday (September 20th).

When responders arrived on the scene, they found a collision on Great North Road close to the junction with Tenter Balk Lane.

It was established that a pedestrian had collided with a Ford Transit Connect van, with the pedestrian being identified as being an 11-year-old boy.

The victim was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a serious condition, being treated for injuries.

The driver of the van stayed at the scene following the crash and is now helping police in their investigations.

South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information and urged witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.

Those who may have been in the area around the time of the crash is being urged to speak to officers by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 493 from September 20th.
