A 39-year-old man died after his car crashed into a tree
South Yorkshire Police have appealed to the public for information after a man died in a fatal collision in Doncaster this weekend.
Officers received reports of a crash on Great North Road in the Bawtry area of the city in the early hours of Saturday morning (December 9th).
According to an initial investigation, a man was driving a black Mercedes car that had been travelling in the direction of the Mount Pleasant Hotel from the golf club in the area.
Officers believe that the man's vehicle then came off the road and collided with a tree, although the exact time of the collision has not yet been determined.
The driver of the car, a man said to be 39-years-old, was sadly pronounced dead on the scene when responders arrived at around 8:18 a.m. on Saturday. His family have been informed and are being supported.
Police in the area have now launched a formal investigation into the crash and have appealed to the public for any potential information they may have which could provided added context to the incident.
Anyone who believes they may have seen the black Mercedes on Friday evening or in the early hours of Saturday morning is being urged to contact the force as soon as possible.
In particular, the force are looking for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the car in the hours leading up to the incident to get in touch, as it may help piece together the events in the run-up to the collision.
