Six people are being questioned on connection with a fight at Doncaster College earlier this afternoon, which led to a major police response.

South Yorkshire Police say they received word of the incident at 12:37pm.

Four people were quickly detained when officers arrived on scene at Chappell Drive.

A decision was then made to evacuate the building as searches of the campus were carried out, with a knife later being discovered.

Two further arrests were then made.

One person suffered minor injuries, with nobody else reported as being hurt.

Among those being questioned are:

- A 21-year-old man on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

- Two 17 year old boys and a 20 year old man, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

- An 18 year old man on suspicion of affray.

- A 17 year old boy on suspicion of affray and possession of Class B drugs.

All remain in custody.

Officers remain at the college tonight to offer reassurance.

In a statement on social media the college reported that "all students and staff are safe".

Doncaster College will open as normal tomorrow.
