Doncaster's Chamber of Commerce 'worried' about the future of the hospitality sector
That's despite an expected rise in profits throughout December
It's feared the future of hospitality in South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire 'could be bleak' - unless more help is offered to the sector.
Pubs & Restaurants are expected to get a boost in profits this month - due to 'Christmas party season' & the anticipated celebrations on New Year's Eve.
However, Dan Fell from Doncaster's Chamber of Commerce says national insurance hikes for employers next year will affect the industry:
"That's going to be felt by businesses, but it's going to be felt by workers, employees, and staff too.
"This inevitably trickles down to the customer and consumer facing bits of our economy.
"At the moment, there's a relative degree of optimism about what the season will deliver for them, but there's natural trepidation about incoming costs following the autumn budget.
"Life will sadly continue to be quite tough for people in that sector.
"It is an inherently tough sector, but it is facing herculean challenges at the moment.
"We need those in power to recognise how important it is as a sector and throw a bone or two at it in the not too distant future."
