Man arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in Doncaster
The suspect was detained within an hour of police being called
A man has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in Doncaster, less than an hour after the incident was reported.
Police were called to High Street in Dunsville after 11am this morning, following reports of a robbery at a local store.
The suspect reportedly entered the shop, threatened staff and appeared to indicate he had a gun before demanding money.
The man fled the scene in a car which travelled towards Nottinghamshire.
South Yorkshire Police firearms officers worked alongside Nottinghamshire Police to locate and stop the vehicle near the A614.
The suspect was arrested shortly after midday and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
South Yorkshire Firearms Inspector Steve Usher said:
“Firearms officers face some of the highest risk situations in policing, responding daily to incidents where the threat of serious harm is real and immediate, and this incident is a reminder that our officers will, without doubt, respond for our communities.”
