Police have launched an appeal to find a family dog, missing after a serious crash on the M1 in South Yorkshire over the weekend.

Officers were called to a collision involving two vehicles close to Junction 33 at 6:45pm on Saturday (March 15).

One of the cars involved was carrying three family dogs, one of which was instantly killed.

A Staffordshire Bull Terrier remained with its owners at the scene, but German Shepherd Athena bolted.

Officers have carried out extensive searches of the area but have so far been unable to locate her.

Anyone with information about her location is being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

A 40 year old driver, who was in the other car, is set to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with failing to provide a breath test and driving without due care and attention..
