Facemasks still mandatory at a South Yorkshire secondary school
Wales High School in Rotherham are making their pupils wear facial coverings in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus this autumn
A South Yorkshire school insist keeping coronavirus prevention measures in place right now is the 'best option' to deal with autumn and winter pressures.
Facemasks are still being used at Wales High School in Rotherham across social areas, in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19 following a recent rise in rates across the country.
Pepe Di'iasio is the Headteacher there:
"We've been very pleased with the support of our students and our wider community, who've been more than happy to maintain social distancing and the use of facemasks on our corridors.
"I think as a result of that, we've been able to keep on top of Covid rates in our school, and across the wider community.
"We're currently awaiting the vaccine process to take place in our school, which will be an added defence against the virus.
"I think we're all looking forward to this, as it'll help us get through to half term. Perhaps then we'll be able to regroup and really look forward to the run up to Christmas.
"All of us are eager to make sure that students can catch up and recover from the disruption of the last eighteen months.
"However, we're all concerned about the next few weeks with infection rates going up across the country, so we need to keep making sure that our students stay safe, along with our staff as well."
