Chris Wilder has committed his future to Championship promotion-challengers Sheffield United by signing a new deal until the summer of 2028.

Wilder is in his second spell at Bramall Lane, having returned in December 2023. Although unable to dig them out of the Premier League relegation zone that season, he has overseen a significant turnaround since and the Blades sit second in the Championship as they target a return to the top flight.

The 57-year-old, who began his playing career with United, has signed a new deal alongside his backroom staff of assistant Alan Knill and first-team coach Matt Prestridge.

"Sheffield United is my club, and there is no place I'd rather be, so I am thrilled to be signing a new deal," Wilder said.

"The football club is in a really good place, there's a real feel-good factor around the training ground and I'm excited about what we can achieve together."

The new contract is a show of faith from club owner COH Sports, which completed its takeover in December.

"The new owners have been incredibly helpful to me since they arrived, and I'd personally like to thank them for their faith and support in what we are trying to work towards at this football club," Wilder added.

Wilder was previously in charge of the club from 2016 to 2021, overseeing promotions from League One and the Championship.

The Blades finished ninth in Wilder's first season in the top flight, but he left the following March with his side bottom of the table.
