Second man arrested on suspicion of Chesterfield murder

It comes at the investigation into death of Jason Smith in Barrow Hill continues

Detectives investigating the death of Jason Smith in Chesterfield have arrested a second man on suspicion of murder.

The 46-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was detained in Sheffield yesterday (January 29).

He was also recalled to prison for an unrelated matter and has been released on police bail following his arrest.

Jason Smith, who lived at Southgate Way in Barrow Hill, suffered life-threatening injuries after reportedly being assaulted at his home around 1pm on January 20.

He was taken to hospital but sadly passed away two days later on January 22.

A 20-year-old man from Sheffield was initially arrested on suspicion of Mr Smith’s murder and has also been released on police bail.
