A 35-year-old man has been fined after admitting to sexually assaulting two women in a pub in Chesterfield last month.
The incident happened on October 25 at a pub on High Street when Robert Ellis, from Hardy Close in Darley Dale, grabbed the bottoms of two women approaching the bar.
One of the women challenged Ellis about his behaviour to which he responded, ‘It was a bit of fun.’
The women reported the assaults to the pub's security. Ellis was subsequently ejected from the premises, and officers were directed to him via the pub’s watch scheme.
Ellis was arrested, charged the following day, and later appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on 12th November, where he admitted the offences.
The magistrate fined Ellis £1088. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 to each victim, a £485 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs.
