Cervical cancer survivor from South Yorkshire urges others 'not to miss' their screenings
Stacey Smith from Doncaster has since recovered from the illness
A South Yorkshire woman - who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year - is calling on others 'not to miss' their screenings.
Stacey Smith from Doncaster has since recovered after receiving treatment - but she only missed one screening before her diagnosis.
The 35-year-old mum of 3 has been telling us how she ended up eventually getting tested for it:
"I couldn't get to the appointment around childcare - they then weren't able to accommodate me - and it was just hit and miss.
"So, I ended up going to a cervical smear pop-up centre in Askern last April, as they had somebody there who could watch your child while you went for the test.
"If you need to go for a cervical screening, just go for it.
"It's not painful - it might be embarrassing for a couple of minutes - but it could save your life like it did mine."
Across Yorkshire & the Humber - The latest stats show around 20% of those eligible for a screening didn't go for one.
