A cat which made its way onto the pitch at Hillsborough during Sheffield Wednesday's fixture with Wigan in League One on Tuesday has survived.

Topsey was taken to the vets after footballers on the field of play helped her off the pitch in stoppage time.

She's since undergone an operation for injuries to her head and neck but is now doing okay.

Remarkably, the incident at the football match in South Yorkshire led to Topsey being reunited with her owner.

The vets were able to find out who Topsey's belonged to as she was chipped.

Topsey had been missing for around eight months, but yesterday was re-united with her owner Alison Jubb in Sheffield.

We've been speaking to Alison about Topsey's current condition following her operation:

"She's on a drip for pain relief and is being referred to a specialist for nerve damage.

"She seemed so pleased to see me though and purred when I cuddled her."
