A group of politicians, led by a Sheffield MP, are looking into whether it should be a crime if someone doesn't report child sex abuse. Clive Betts was able to grill two former senior Ofsted officials yesterday about why inspections didn't pick up the scale of exploitation in Rotherham He's told us that bringing in mandatory reporting is one recommendation they're considering: "It's something we'll be looking at. It's one suggestion that if anyone is aware of child abuse, there should be a statutory requirement to report that. And if that doesn't happen - it's a criminal offence." More follows...
