A spokesperson for Cadent says gas has been restored to all homes and businesses in an area of Sheffield, who were cut off nearly two weeks ago.

Engineers will remain in Stannington over the next couple of weeks to deal with "intermittent problems", after a burst water main flooded pipes on December 02.

Residents have had to endure freezing temperatures with no heating, and supplies including electric blankets have been given out to keep people warm.

Last week, Stannington resident Tim Jones said he had been looking after his 78-year-old mother who is recovering from cancer.

Mr Jones said: "I know Sheffield City Council has made it a national emergency and the Red Cross have been drafted in.

"When the Red Cross get drafted in, it's usually a serious incident."

Anyone who experiences problems with their gas supply is being asked to get in touch with Cadent.
