Barnsley Youth Zone opens for the first time
Plans have been in place to get it up and running since 2021
The wait is over in Barnsley - as a new youth zone finally opens its doors in the town today!
Ideas around the £5 million project were originally proposed around 5 years ago.
It'll allow young people to choose from over 20 activities inside the facility - including things like music & sport.
Holly Hodgson works there:
"We can make changes as we move along; so, as the new trends come in and things like that, we'll be able to adapt.
"Our boxing ring can be folded away for example. So, if people don't really take to boxing, we can make changes as we go along."
"We've done surveys with young people though in the run up to the opening, so we're confident youngsters in Barnsley will like what's available here."
