Barnsley will take on the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle next season after securing their place in the Championship.

The Reds held Millwall to a 3-1 finish at Wembley yesterday afternoon, with goals from Ashley Fletcher, Adam Hammill and Lloyd Isgrove sealing the victory.

"What an incredible season it has been for everyone associated with our football club," **says caretaker boss Paul Heckingbottom.

"The atmosphere at Wembley on Sunday was phenomenal – (fans) got behind us all game and that support was crucial in getting the win and securing promotion back to the Championship."

Hammill is hoping Heckingbottom is rewarded with a full-time contract.

Since stepping up to replace Lee Johnson in February, Heckingbottom has won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and now the bigger prize of promotion to the Championship.

Hammill told Sky Sports: "Two trips to Wembley and two wins. I think the chairman will be getting a contract out for him tonight!''

Heckingbottom added: *We'll have to see won't we. We said we would wait until after the season.*

I couldn't be any prouder. Every single thing we've asked them to do throughout the season they've tried to do it and whenever anyone is doing that for you you'll go to war with them and that's what these boys have done.''

Midfielder Lloyd Isgrove, on loan from Southampton, said: There's no better way to top such a season off. I took my time but I got the goal in the end. We're delighted.

(The early goal) settled us down, settled our nerves and once we started moving the ball around we never looked like losing really.''

The club are now inviting fans to join in the celebrations this afternoon when an open top bus parade will head through the town centre.

The parade will make its way from Oakwell Stadium at 4.15pm to Barnsley Town Hall via Grove Street, Pontefract Road, Kendray Street, Eldon Street, Church Street and Sadler Gate.

The players will then make an appearance on the Town Hall balcony at approximately 5pm to 5.30pm.

Fans are being encouraged to help paint the town red by bringing flags and wearing the team colours.
