Things you can do with the extra long weekend

Long weekends are rare, so now we finally have two this month, let's embrace it! Even though this Bank Holiday weekend will be a bit different from usual, as the country is still in lockdown, we have some great things you can do with the extra long weekend.

Whether it's spending a few hours longer in bed, getting those much needed jobs around the house done, or picking up a new hobby, don't worry, there is a lot you can be doing with that extra day!

Things you can do with the long weekend when you're in lockdown:

1. An extra day to lie-in...

It's an extra day off so enjoy it! It's your chance to turn the alarm off and have a proper lie-in.

2. Sunday Night Blues are delayed

If you have that feeling of dread on Sunday evenings, worrying about going back to work, then you have another day without them.
Of course, the first May Bank Holiday is a Friday, so you mostly likely will be back to work on Monday morning, however we hope you feel refreshed after the long weekend.

3. Use the extra day to get all those chores done

Even though we've been in lockdown for weeks, you might have been putting some of the household chores off, but they need to be done.
Now is your chance, you'll feel better after it's done, promise!

4. We have one less day with our boss

It's a four day week, so you'll have one day less with your boss. Although many people are working from home now, you still have to deal with your boss, so sometimes one less day with them is a welcome addition to your week!

5. We can get those DIY jobs done

You know that wall that needs painting, or that floorboard that needs mending? The long weekend is the perfect opportunity to get all these little problems fixed.
Of course if you need to buy any supplies please make sure you observe social distancing guidelines.

6. Take up a new hobby

Whether you've had a guitar collecting dust in the corner, or always wanted to learn a language, now is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill.

7. Catch up on all the TV we’ve missed

Time for a binge-watch. There are plenty of TV series worth catching up on these days, so having an extra day to do that is perfect, especially if the weather is a bit nasty and the garden isn't looking very inviting.

8. It's the chance to read THAT book

Hands up if you have a shelf full of books you bought intending to read, but never got around to? This is your chance! You have an extra day to sit down, forget about everything around you, and immerse yourself in a book.

If you're looking for some ideas for what to read, here is some inspiration for the best uplifting books to cheer you up during lockdown.

If you're lucky enough not to have to work on the 8th or 25th May, then enjoy your long weekend.
