13 Arrested In Police Raids In Doncaster
Hallam's joined police raids at homes across Doncaster as officers hunt out suspected burglars
A number of homes across Doncaster have been raided by police looking for burglars. It's the result of a nine month undercover operation. Over £30,000 worth of stolen items, including phones and ipads, have been recovered. The investigation, entitled Operation Deal, has involved the use of a variety of tactics to try and tackle the issue of Serious Acquisitive Crime, which includes burglary, theft from motor vehicle and robbery. Detective Chief Inspector Craig Robinson, who's been leading Operation Deal said: “Serious Acquisitive Crime can cause extreme distress to the victims, one example being burglary, which is an incredibly intrusive crime that can leave people afraid to be in their own homes, frightened and vulnerable. “However, it is not only the victims who suffer, those who live in an area where the crime is committed can also feel unsafe and uneasy going about their daily business. “We are not prepared to accept this for our residents in Doncaster and we launched Operation Deal to try and reduce the number of crimes committed and find those responsible." After a morning of searches twelve men and a woman have been arrested. The men aged between 29 and 38 years old were arrested on suspicion of various offences including burglary, handling stolen goods, drugs offences. A 40 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary. DCI Robinson added: “Extra police patrols will be conducted in the areas where the arrests have been made to reassure residents and provide assistance and advice. Today has been a great success, however I would encourage anyone with information or any concerns to please contact the police on 101.”
