Police appeal after serious collision in Barnsley

An appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage has been launched by South Yorkshire Police after a serious collision in Barnsley.

The incident happened at around 9:15am, on the A629 Halifax Road in Penistone, two vehicles were involved, a black BMW X3 and a blue Fiat Grande Punto, close to the temporary road works.

The driver of the Fiat Grande Punto, a 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the BMW X3, a 26-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Officers say they are 'are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dash-cam footage of the BMW prior to the collision. If you can help please call 101 quoting incident number 225 of 31 May 2022.'
