This afternoon the official Twitter account for Fantastic Beasts has announced a release date for the 'as yet' untitled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel.

Keeping the tweet brief, it revealed the release date as the 16th November 2018, almost two years to the day that the first film was released. The tweet said, 'Wands at the ready. On 16.11.18 the #FantasticBeasts story continues. Check back tomorrow for more #MagicInProgress. #WizardingWednesdays'

This was accompanied by a photo of two wands.

At present we still don't have a name for the new film, however the tweet has confirmed more will be announced tomorrow - could it be the name?

This exciting news has quickly been picked up by fans around the world who commented on the tweet saying, 'Yes yes yes!!' and '👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼'. Others have also responded with gifs and emojis.

Earlier this year the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel began filming and was searching for young actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play young versions of Newt, Leta, and another character called Sebastian.

The film is believed to be set in 1927, just a few months after the first film and follows Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore, as they attempt to take down the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.

This new film will be the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which was released in November 2016. It was J.K.Rowling's screenwriting debut and drew inspiration from the Hogwarts textbook of the same name written by Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter books.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them saw Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne play the lead character Newt Scamander - a world magizoologist. When he arrived in New York City he had a suitcase full of magical delights.

In June this year the first Harry Potter book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone celebrated its 20th anniversary. Author JK Rowling initially struggled to get her book published and was turned down by 12 publishing houses before Bloomsbury took it on. Not confident that it would be popular they only printed 500 hardback copies of the book and 5,150 paperbacks.

Despite the struggles at the beginning Harry Potter became immensely popular and this week we heard about the brand new Harry Potter themed advent calendars which have been taking the world by storm. Available in store at Target in the US, many members of the public have been left disappointed when they turn up to find they're out of stock.
