So, now that we are just hours away from the new season of The Walking Dead what's in store for viewers?
Well, in news that was confirmed earlier this by the show's producer, Robert Kirkman, Andrew Lincoln IS stepping down from his role as the show's protagonist, Rick Grimes. The shock news was revealed in an interview with the movie website, IMDb.
When asked what the future held for Rick and whether he would be leaving the show, Robert said, "It’s looking that way. It does make the differences between the comic and the show more pronounced. But at the end of the day, it’s all about Andrew Lincoln."
Of course, Andrew couldn't leave the show any old way as Robert revealed, "Andrew wants to do something special on the way out. We have something amazing planned. I wouldn’t want to spoil anything.
WATCH: The trailer for The Walking Dead season 9 below:
Whilst we still don't know the details on when or how Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the show he has said, "We did a final scene where I had to laugh and chortle, very uncharacteristic for my character.
"We did one take and I felt my toe being tickled, and then my other toe was tickled. I laughed!"
He went on to reveal to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the most, "unprofessional moment of my entire career."
The new season premiere comes just a couple of days after the sad news that The Walking Dead actor Scott Wilson died at the age of 76. Scott appeared regularly in the series from 2011 to 2014 as vet Hershel Greene, and had filmed some cameo appearances in season 9, as teased by the series' new showrunner, Angela Kang, at the New York Comic Con.
The Walking Dead's official Twitter account confirmed the sad news saying, 'We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you!'
Don't forget, if you're a fan of The Walking Dead to catch the season 9 premiere at 9pm tonight!
