Comedian Peter Kay has given his fans a very exciting update about popular TV show Peter Kay's Car Share.

Peter's Twitter account was today updated with news of a charity event to be held on Saturday 7th April at the Blackpool Opera House. The special event is set to show four episodes of the hit sitcom, as well as the series finale and two brand news episodes of Car Share: Unscripted.

The tweet read, 'Exciting news: A charity screening of new Peter Kay’s Car Share episodes will be held at Blackpool Opera House on Saturday 7th April. Tickets on sale Saturday at 9am'.

The new event is in aid of children's charity the Lily Foundation, which looks after sick children suffering with mitchondrial disease.

Speaking about the charity, Peter said, “I’ve had first-hand experience of the Foundation’s work and I’m proud to raise both awareness and much needed funds to help with the inspiring work they provide to children and their families.”

Tickets for the exciting show go on sale at 9am on Saturday 31st March from Ticketmaster, with all profits going to the Lily Foundation.

The news comes after Peter Kay announced Car Share would be returning to the BBC for two final episodes during an appearance on Children In Need last year.

Joining his co-star Sian Gibson, who plays the role of Kayleigh Kitson, Peter revealed one of the episodes will be the finale, with the other being an improvised edition called Car Share: Unscripted.

Speaking about the new series at the time, Peter said, "It’s been a very hard secret to keep. We were getting constant abuse about it. People have been very angry the series ended in that way.”

The finale episode is set to reveal what happened between characters John and Kayleigh following their big argument on the last series.

Peter Kay's Car Share first aired in 2015. To date the series consists of two seasons, with each episode showing the pair’s often hilarious journeys to and from work.
