Have you ever watched something that you didn't think you'd be in to, just because it was recommended? Well, if you have then you definitely aren't alone.

Online streaming service Netflix have revealed that a massive 80% of shows watched through the service are discovered through recommendations, with a fifth of Stranger Things fans being new to horror before watching the series. Likewise one in eight Marvel TV viewers were new to the comic book-based content.

The secret behind these recommendations is an algorithm, that according to the streaming giant, knows you better than your own mother! While you might not think you're in to superheroes or sci-fi, you might be surprised when you get served up with some recommendations.

Netflix have also revealed how someone watching The Crown could end up watching Marvel's The Defenders, whilst catching a bit of Stranger Things and Glow on the way.

Taking us through a viewer's journey, starting with The Crown another compelling drama such as Black Mirror would be recommended. Delving into the fantasy realm, Black Mirror is the perfect opportunity for Stranger Things, set in the 80s, to be recommended.

Another 80s series that is popular on Netflix at the moment is Glow which is about female empowerment, leading us on to Jessica Jones. Following a female superhero, this leads us on to Marvel's The Defenders!
