Viewers spot strange 'blunder' in EastEnders scene
Viewers vented their frustrations
Last updated 11th Oct 2017
Fans of EastEnders are never one to shy away after they notice a mistake on the popular soap. We've seen quite a few blunders this year already.
Viewers were quick to point out a huge blunder involving Mick Carter, then there was that awkward moment everyone forgot about one of the victims in the ambulance horror crash and then, fans were confused and pointed out that bosses may have made a big blunder involving Kush Kazemi when he recovered from major surgery in one episode.
Now, viewers have pointed out something very odd about Monday night's episode – Sharon Mitchell and her cordless phone.
In the episode, Sharon was tormented by a prank caller and viewers saw her running up and down the stairs every time the phone rang. When she finally managed to answer the call, she blew down the phone and woke up the entire family…
While Michelle and Sharon think the person behind the prank calls is their stalker Tom, viewers of the show couldn't help but question why Sharon didn't take the phone upstairs with her as it was cordless.
One person ranted, 'Why doesn’t Sharon take the phone with her? We are in 2017 😒#EastEnders'.
Another said, 'Why doesn't Sharon bring the phone upstairs or block the number #EastEnders'.
Of course EastEnders isn't real life and bosses were probably just trying to make the scene more dramatic, but that didn't stop viewers venting their frustrations towards Sharon's behaviour.
EastEnders isn't the only soap to make a gaffe this year. Just last week Coronation Street bosses were forced to apologise for an error in Bethany Platt's sex abuse trial.
The TV soap had been widely praised for its portrayal of the sensitive subject for nearly a year, but in one episode an oversight showed Bethany being sketched by a court artist, despite sex abuse victims having lifelong anonymity. The TV show also showed the artist sketching in the court, when they must do it from memory.
As viewers picked up on the mistake, bosses of the soap released an apology which read, "We accept this wasn’t a true representation of court procedure and we apologise for including it.
"We repeatedly focused on support for victims throughout the court process, which we hope would encourage anyone watching to recognise the fact they would be in a safe place when giving evidence."
Both EastEnders and Coronation Street continue weekdays.
