HUGE fundraising total from VW Festival revealed

Two days, one car and an army of volunteers...

The VW Festival celebrated its 11th Annual event this past weekend. Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids teamed up with its sister charities Cash for Kids based at Viking FM in Hull (covering East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire) and Cash for Kids based at Radio Aire (covering Leeds and West Yorkshire).

A small army of volunteers, which included staff from HSBC, Capita and students from Sheffield Hallam University faced a challenge of selling as many raffle tickets as possible to the 20,000+ visitors to the festival over the weekend.

This wasn’t any ordinary raffle, the top prize was a restored 1967 VW Beetle, given a new life by Herbie Hospital, who worked incredibly hard to give that one lucky person the chance to own of the iconic cars which they kindly donated. We couldn’t have done it without them.

We are incredibly excited to reveal that over the entire weekend the team raised an astonishing £20,600!

A HUGE thank you to the VW Festival organisers for having us. Yorkshire Hog Roast, Job Lot and Costco who donated drinks to help nourish our volunteers over the weekend, Andrew Kelly Photography for capturing every moment with some incredible photography and to all of our amazing volunteers who donated their time to make it all happen.

The money raised is shared across Yorkshire and will be made available for our Autumn Grant round. To apply for funding to help sick and disadvantaged children you can click here.
