Ed Sheeran shows lovely act of kindness to terminally ill 11-year-old girl

Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest stars in the world, selling millions of records across the globe with hits like 'A-Team', 'Shape Of You' and 'Galway Girl', but the singer has recently shown just how big his heart is.
Ed has donated a signed guitar to 11-year-old Melody Driscoll, who is suffering from the rare and incurable disorder Rett syndrome, meaning she can no longer walk or talk.
After meeting Melody at one of his gigs back in 2016, Ed has now donated one of his guitars in an attempt to help raise money for Melody's parents, Karina and Nigel Driscoll.
As doctors at London King's College Hospital have told Katrina and Nigel that they need to now withdraw Melody from her pain relief, her parents are gearing up for a legal battle and are hoping they can auction off Ed's guitar to help raise the £50,000 needed for legal fees.
At the end of February, Melody's parents shared the news of Ed's kind donation to their daughter's Facebook page 'Melody In Mind'.
Sharing photos of Melody holding the signed guitar, the message read, 'We thought it would be nice to get a few pictures of Melody with Ed Sheeran’s guitar we are auctioning off so everyone can see why we are doing it. For this beautiful little girl right here.
'We are still waiting to hear from a few people regarding the way forward with Ed’s guitar. Once we know the fine details ALL WILL BE REVEALED'. sic
It seems Melody is a massive fan of Ed! Mum Katrina recently told The Independent, “They have a really close relationship, Ed sends Melody video messages and he bought her an iPad so she can listen to his music."
She then added, "She absolutely loves him, in hospital she is surrounded by him, she has an Ed Sheeran pillow, an Ed Sheeran doll."
According to the NHS, Rett syndrome is a 'rare genetic disorder that affects brain development, resulting in severe mental and physical disability.' The syndrome It is estimated to affect around 1 in 12,000 girls born each year and is only rarely seen in males.
Melting hearts on Facebook, Melody's mum posted a touching video of her daughter seeing her father, after he was unable to get to the hospital for a few days due to the country's heavy snow.
Alongside the video she wrote, 'Due to the snow Melody hadn’t seen her daddy for a few days. I think this video clearly shows how much she’s missed him. She was so happy to see him. Our Melody is still there. ☺️And to think SS wanted to take her away from us! 💛'. sic
