Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has revealed the scary moment her boyfriend Matt Baker was forced to act to save her daughter Polly's life.

The actress, who is best known for her role as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street, has detailed the near fatal accident in her recent magazine column.

Writing in OK! Magazine, Kym described the moment her six-year-old daughter Polly was playing on swing in her back garden with Matt, before the wooden frame collapsed.

She wrote, "A few days before our anniversary he saved Polly's life.

"The two of them were in our back garden and Matt was pushing her on the swing, which is made of heavy, wooden logs.

"Suddenly, the whole thing collapsed and a log was about to hit Pol on the head. Matt dived on top of her and it hit him in the back, instead.

"He was in agony and his upper back was black and blue."

Kym later added that if the beam had fallen on Matt's head it would've knocked him unconscious and admitted thankfully there was no serious damage to either Matt or little Polly.

The actress welcomed her daughter Polly into the world on March 23rd 2011 with her husband at the time, Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas.

However Kym and Jamie divorced in 2013 for 'unreasonable behaviour' and it was later finalised in early 2014.

As well as Polly, Kym has two other children from a past relationship, daughter Emilie Mae and son David Ryan.

Kym has been with Matt for two years now and their relationship seems to be going from strength to strength.

Back in January Kym revealed the pair were buying a house together but admitted they'd not yet spoke about marriage.

Kym continues to portray her role of Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.
