Wales YFC scrap 'Young Peoples Village' at Royal Welsh Show 2023
The Wales Federation of Young Farmers Clubs say it's to help them focus 'into the other opportunities the show offers'

The 'Young Peoples Village' competition ran by the Wales Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFC) has been called off for 2023.
The show - which takes place between 24 and 27 July this year - was set to see the annual competition, but after careful consideration by organisers, the YFC have now decided to cancel the Village to focus on the other opportunities the show offers.
Members of the YFC across Wales get involved, but thanks to what they call a 'democratic process' - and as a result of the cost of living crisis over the past 12 months - the decision has now been made.
The YFC hope that through other competitions, engaging with rural affairs, and the show providing young Welsh farmers with the opportunity to develop new skills and meet new friends that this won't hinder what is set to be a jam-packed programme at this year's Royal Welsh Show.
The Chairman of Wales YFC, Hefin Evans, said: “This is a decision which the organisation has not made lightly.
"A lot of thought and discussion has taken place with our members via the democratic processes in place. The cost-of-living crisis, increase fuel charges, equipment hire fees has had a massive impact of the infrastructure costs making it impossible for the organisation to make it a feasible option.
"We must look at the bigger picture and safeguard the future of our organisation. We look forward to the show with a fresh slate and are excited to welcome members to the YFC Centre.”
The Royal Welsh Show takes place later this year in Llanelwedd.
It returned for 2022 for the first time in three years as a result of the impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
