An investigation is continuing after two people died after their car went into a south Wales river.

South Wales Police say it happened just before 3am on Christmas Day on New Cut Road in Swansea with the vehicle entering the River Tawe.

The bodies of a man and woman - who were both 36 - were recovered near the black Mini which was found submerged in the water.

Their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened - or has dashcam footage - to get in touch.
