Welsh woos Kylie's Nain
The superstar's 100 year-old grandmother was impressed by Paul Solomon's language skills
Superstar Kylie Minogue revealed how her new love won over her 100-year-old grandmother - by speaking to her in Welsh.
Kylie took her beau Paul Solomon to Australia on a family visit to see her beloved "Nain" at home.
And Paul learned greetings in the Welsh language to delight grandmother Millicent who emigrated Down Under from Wales as a child.
Kylie said:
"She turned 100 in December and still has a thick Welsh accent. She was always the matriarch of the family - and she will still crack that joke.
"She is such a strong character in my life.
"He's a Welshman. He doesn't speak Welsh but he practiced a few words.
"You could see her face light up when he spoke Welsh to her.
"I'm still charmed by the accent. It is a beautiful language," Kylie told Carol Vorderman on her show on BBC Radio Wales.
Grandmother Millie Jones left Maesteg in the 1950s to emigrate to Queensland, Australia - and went on to have six children.
Her daughter Carol later married Ron Minogue and the couple had three children Kylie, Dannii and brother Brendan.
Kylie, 52, earlier said:
"I was born in Melbourne but my roots will always be in Wales."
Paul, 45, is originally from Caerphilly but moved to London where he is been creative director of GQ magazine.
The couple have been together since 2018 after being introduced at a party.
