Wales has been battered by strong winds overnight, with the strongest gusts recorded in the north and southwest of the country.

Capel Curig in Gwynedd was hit by 86 mph gusts, while 81 mph winds were recorded at Mumbles Head.

Fallen trees have caused some transport issues. Transport for Wales say services are at a stand between Pontypridd and Aberdare, and between Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfil due to fallen tree on the line.

Services are also suspended between Cardiff Queen Street and Coryton due to fallen tree on the line at Ty Glas.

Services via Barry are suspended between Cardiff Central and Bridgend due to fallen tree on the line. Trains will divert via Pontyclun. Eastbound services are running normally.

Meanwhile the M48 Severn Bridge is closed both ways due to strong winds between J2 A466 Wye Valley Link Road (Chepstow) and J1 A403.

A Yellow warning of wind remains in place this morning for the whole of Wales.
