Labour dominate South Wales as Tories wiped out completely
Labour has regained several Welsh seats from the Conservatives with Sir Keir Starmer's landslide election victory
The Tories were wiped out in Wales, with Welsh Secretary David TC Davies losing his seat, along with three former Welsh secretaries; Alun Cairns, Stephen Crabb, and Simon Hart.
Another ousted Tory was Craig Williams, former aide to Rishi Sunak, who had party support withdrawn after admitting to betting on the date of the election.
It's been a triumphant night for Labour and a disastrous one for the Tories, Plaid Cymru celebrated winning both its target seats of Ynys Môn and Caerfyrddin, both taken from the Conservatives.
Labour now hold every seat in South Wales:
- Bridgend: Jamie Wallis (CON) to Chris Elmore (LAB)
- Monmouthshire: David TC Davies (CON) to Catherine Fookes (LAB)
- Swansea West: Geraint Davies (LAB) to Torsten Bell (LAB)
- Blaenau Gwent and Rhymney: New constituency won by Nick Smith (LAB)
- Neath and Swansea East: Held by Carolyn Harris (LAB)
- Gower: Martin Caton (LAB) to Tonia Antoniazzi (LAB)
- Torfaen: Held by Nick Thomas-Symonds (LAB)
- Newport East: Held by Jessica Morden (LAB)
- Newport West and Islwyn: New constituency won by Ruth Jones (LAB)
- Aberafan Maesteg: New constituency won by Stephen Kinnock (LAB)
- Rhondda and Ogmore: New constituency won by Chris Bryant (LAB)
- Llanelli: Held by Nia Griffith (LAB)
- Caerphilly: Wayne David (LAB) to Chris Evans (LAB)
- Cardiff West: Kevin Brennan (LAB) to Alex Barros-Curtis (LAB)
- Cardiff East: Held by Jo Stevens (LAB)
- Cardiff North: Held by Anna McMorrin (LAB)
- Cardiff South and Penarth: Held by Stephen Doughty (LAB)
- Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare: New constituency won by Gerald Jones (LAB)
- Vale of Glamorgan: Alun Cairns (CON) to Kanishka Narayan (LAB)
Labour finished on 27 seats, up nine since 2019, Plaid Cymru have doubled their seats from two to four, and the Lib Dems regained Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe from the Tories.
