The hunt is underway to find a new manager for Wales Women after the departure last night of boss Gemma Grainger.

The news came as a shock to the FAW; last year Grainger signed a new deal to remain as Wales boss until 2027.

Instead, Grainger is leaving her role with immediate effect and will take charge of Norway, ranked 11th in the world.

She spent nearly three years with Wales, missing out on qualification for the 2024 World Cup after losing in a play-off final to Switzerland.

Grainger says the opportunity to take over Norway, the world champions of 1995, was one "she couldn't turn down".
