Face coverings are going to remain a legal requirement in public indoor health and social care settings in Wales for another three weeks.

The Welsh health minister has told the Senedd, officials are optimistic about the Spring, but will keep in place advice for wearing further PPE for health and social care staff.

Face coverings are also being advised for all indoor public places where it is crowded.

Eluned Morgan said: "This is part of our series of stronger advice for public health. These measures and other measures could work together to help to prevent and decrease the transmission of Covid.

"This will keep us all safe and with a safe method of keeping each other safe, and by ensuring as many of those who are eligible are vaccinated, we can all hopefully feel optimistic about the spring and beyond, even though we will of course continue to be vigilant for new variants that will arise."

Officials were monitoring Covid rates to see any rises as social mixing increased over the Easter weekend.

The health minister told the Senedd that hospitalisations have decreased over recent weeks, as well as statistics on Coronavirus cases.

The legal requirement to wear face coverings in indoor health and social care settings was announced by the First Minister on 6th May.

At that point, it was because Covid-related hospital admissions had plateaued at around 240 per day.
