Wales Airshow set to amaze Swansea Bay with Red Arrow Display
The Wales Airshow will be taking to the skies over Swansea Bay this weekend
The free two-day event will take place on July 6 and 7, featuring world-class displays over Swansea Bay.
The Red Arrows are due to appear over Swansea at 5.15pm on Saturday.
Swansea Council is encouraging visitors to walk, cycle, or use public transport, partnering with GWR, First Cymru, and Transport for Wales.
A series of temporary road changes have been announced to ensure that tens of thousands can safely enjoy this year’s Wales Airshow.
The temporary road changes for the 2024 show will be similar to last year’s successful event.
These changes will affect seafront sections of:
- Oystermouth Road
- Mumbles Road
- Roads in Sandfields
- Pantycelyn Road in Townhill
Diversions will be clearly signposted.
Tracey McNulty, Swansea Council’s head of cultural services, said,
“We’re excited to welcome thousands to Swansea for the airshow, Wales’ largest free-entry family event. Safety is paramount, and we appreciate the understanding of local motorists, residents, and businesses regarding the necessary temporary road changes. Planning ahead and familiarizing oneself with these changes is crucial.”
The airshow will feature ground displays, including a full-size replica Hurricane, live music, a fun fair, the Motor Zone, and spectacular air displays.
There will also be a D-Day mobile museum and various vintage military vehicles. Highlights include the popular Red Arrows (on Saturday) and RAF Typhoon (both days), among others.
Armed Services activities will include the Band of the Prince of Wales, large combat vehicles, and a veterans’ village with representatives of service veterans, charities, and support groups.
