Two men in hospital with puncture wounds after Cardiff city centre incident

It happened on Kingsway in the early hours of this morning - roads in the capital still closed

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in the centre of Cardiff which left two 21 year-old men with puncture wounds

It happened at around 1am on Kingsway on Sunday morning. A police cordon is still in place and the road remains closed.

South Wales police say a group of males were seen running away from the scene and that an investigation in underway.

They want anybody who was in the vicinity of Kingsway at around 1am who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam or mobile phone footage to make contact.

Detective Inspector Matthew Cox, said:

“We are investigating another serious assault in Cardiff city centre. On this occasion, two men were injured but thankfully both are currently in a stable condition.

“We have a team of officers working hard to identify who was responsible. This incident is not believed to be linked to the assault that occurred in the early hours of Saturday.”

“Knife crime has devastating consequences and tackling this concerning issue is a priority for us.

“Our officers are patrolling the city centre and are exercising stop and search powers when they have grounds to do so.”
