Tonypandy house fire not suspicious

A house fire in Tonypandy which has left a 28 year-old woman fighting for her life in hospital is no longer being treated as suspicious.

A 26 year-old man arrested as part of the investigation into the blaze on Tyntyla Road has been released from custody.

Investigating officers are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.

The 28 year-old woman remains in Morriston Hospital where her condition is described as critical.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lewis, said:

“This is a terribly sad and tragic incident which has left a young woman fighting for her life in hospital.

“Extensive enquiries which have been made over the past few days have enabled us to arrive at the conclusion that the fire was not the result of a criminal act.

"Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the woman in hospital and her family."
