The Welsh Rich List is unveiled
Five billionaires top the list
Wales has five billionaires, according to the Sunday Times Rich List which has been published today.
Internet entrepreneur Sir Michael Moritz is the richest person from Wales – according to the rankings – he and novelist wife Harriet Heyman have seen their fortune grow by £500 million in 12 months to 4 billion pounds.
Specsavers controller, Llanelli-born Douglas Perkins and his wife Dame Mary Perkins have seen their fortune rise by 130 million making them worth 1.3 billion.
However, not everyone has increased their fortune. Henry Engelhardt, the American co-founder of the Cardiff-based insurance company Admiral Group, and his wife Diane Briere de L'Isle are no longer billionaires. The value of Admiral shares has fallen, and as a result, the couple’s joint fortune has dropped by £170 million in the past year to £956 million.
