18 year-old in hospital following reported stabbing in Cardiff

Another 18 year-old has been arrested and police are appealing for witnesses

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of wounding following reports of a stabbing in Cardiff yesterday afternoon.

South Wales Police say it happened on North Road at around 2.30pm.

An 18-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with non-life threatening injuries.

His condition is described as serious but stable.

Officers say that at this stage, the incident is not thought to involve a knife.

A statement read:

"It is believed those involved are known to each other but enquiries are on-going to establish the exact circumstances."

The suspect, also aged 18, remains in police custody.

The statement said there was set to be an increased police presence in the area in the wake of the incident:

"CCTV shows a lot of people in the area at the time of the incident and we are appealing for witnesses to contact police.

"Understandably there is shock and worry within the community when an incident such as this happens.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days."
