South Wales animal charity helps transport Pen Farthing's animals as they arrive from Afghanistan
The Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary transported dogs from Heathrow to quarantine facilities.
A south Wales animal charity says it was 'honoured' to be able to help former Royal Marine Pen Farthing as his animals arrived in the UK from Afghanistan.
Pen headed up the Nowzad charity in Kabul and his plight to get his staff and animals to the UK has hit the headlines in recent weeks as the Taliban took control of the country.
They arrived in the UK on a privately funded charter flight over the weekend.
Rosie is from the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in Abercrave.
She told us: "We were contacted by Nowzad UK on Friday evening.
"They asked if we were able to help transport some of the animals to quarantine facilities and we were only too happy to assist.
"Graham, who owns the sanctuary, worked in Afghanistan in 2008 and 2009 and knows only too well the importance of getting the animals out and that's one of the reasons why we helped - we just had to.
"All of Pens animals - the cats and the dogs - have been transported to quarantine facilities and this is all over the UK.
"They can be in quarantine for up to four months. We didn't transport any cats but we did transport some dogs for Pen."
