Serious crash closes A48 Briton Ferry Bridge

South Wales Police were called out to what they have described as a 'serious collision' on the A48 Britton Ferry Bridge.

It happened yesterday afternoon, with the force sharing details of the incident at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.

According to one comment on their Facebook post, officers were turning stuck cars back on themselves to divert through Neath.

In a statement on their Facebook page yesterday afternoon, South Wales Police added: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A48 Britton Ferry Bridge.

"The road is currently closed in Westbound between A48 McDonalds to the A483 Fabian way. It is expected to remain closed for some time.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area."
