Members of the Senedd will debate whether a cap should be placed on political donations this afternoon.

It's in response to the controversial £200,000 sum given to Vaughan Gething's leadership campaign.

The First Minister says the money was properly declared - and within the rules.

South Wales Central MS Heledd Fychan says this donation raised serious concerns.

She said: "By accepting £200,000 from an individual he knew was guilty of environmental offences and that he had previously lobbied on behalf I believe that Vaughan Gething has demonstrated poor judgement and a contemptuous attitude to the Senedd and the general public.

"By showing no regret at all and accepting this donation and not paying it back the First Minister is damaging the institution as a whole".

Former First Minister Carwyn Jones is to lead a review into Welsh Labour's leadership election process - including campaign donations.

The Welsh Conservatives are also holding a debate during plenary this afternoon - looking at campaign donations.

The party also wants to see an independent advisor appointed to review what happened during Vaughan Gething's campaign.
